In The World Today

I think that in the world of today, technology is more dominant than ever. We have smartphones, self-driving cars, smart speakers that you can talk with and many, many more inventions that have made life much easier than it was before. But there aren't solely postive sides to these new products designed to help us have a more pleasant life or to make certain processes more efficient. The smartphone is probably one of the most distracting devices in existence, and the same goes for TV, computers and many other devices in 21st century life, that can all be quite overwhelming and even addictive to use. I think that the modern day adaption of the ideas and messages of Huxley's Brave New World should be applied to the way we create and utilise technology nowadays. We should put thought into the rights and wrongs that come with new inventions, for there are many ways that technology can be abused or misused to influence people or achieve a certain goal by the wrong people. A great example of this is the collection of data that Facebook has been exposed of doing for years. This does not regulate our society, but in the wrong hands this information could be used to achieve such a goal.
