The biggest issue that the people in Brave new world face is the fact that they do not have the ability to choose, for they have been conditioned against it. They do not want to chose because they have been trained to obey since their births.

Do I think that it is a prominent issue in our society in this modern day? Maybe. It certainly happens to people unconsciously. A very real and harmless example:

A child has been born in a family that LOVES the football club Manchester United. This child has been hearing from birth on out that Manchester United is the best football club and the others are all inferior. The child has been going to Manchester games since he or she was four and cheered on with all the others. The only logical thing that this child will do is to also begin loving Manchester United. Why? He doesn’t know. But the thing he does know is that it is his or her truth and that all the others are wrong.

I do not believe that this is inherently wrong, but in more extreme examples it could be. For example if you live in the state of Alabama and your parents have always screamed that black or gay people are bad and are going straight to hell. Just as the child that began to love Manchester United, this child will begin to hate black or gay people.

So I do not think the issue is truly very prevalent in our society, but it is a very real thing and we should be afraid of it.
